A Life Well Lived: Memorial Tribute to Jacqueline D. Pollard, Ed.D.

HERS mourns the loss of our dear sister, Dr. Jacqui Pollard, a Bryn Mawr ’97 HERS Leadership Institute alum who served two terms on the HERS Board of Directors from 2013-2019. We celebrate her legacy and commitment to higher education.

Dr. Jacqueline Pollard, born in May 1945, succumbed to her battle with lung and bone cancer on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She was 78 years old and lived in Atlanta, GA.

Jacqui, as she was affectionately called, participated in the HERS Leadership Institute at Bryn Mawr College in 1997.

Jacqui earned an A.B. degree in Sociology/Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. degree in Human Resources Management from Central Michigan University, and an Ed.D. in Administration and Supervision from Atlanta University.

She served on many boards, and was affiliated with many professional and civic organizations, including life membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She served two terms on HERS Board of Directors from 2013–2019, when she was employed as Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jacqui’s spirit and legacy of service to higher education will live on among HERS alums and members of the HERS Board of Directors.

A memorial service for Jacqui is planned for 2:00 pm ET, Saturday, Dec. 2, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 6175 Campbellton Road, South Fulton, Atlanta, GA 30331.
