Gifts to support access, engagement in the HERS Network, and research will strengthen HERS to meet this important moment—now and for the next 50 years. Through your philanthropic support, we will unite with HERS alums and other benefactors to train and empower a community of bold leaders in higher education.
Every gift matters, and your generosity makes a difference!
Did you know that women hold less than 40% of college and university president and chancellor positions in U.S. higher education?
Since its founding in 1972, HERS has contributed significantly to obliterating visible and invisible barriers for women in their ascent to senior leadership positions in higher education. While progress has been achieved in the representation of women leaders—going from zero to 39% of campus CEOs in over 50 years—other inequities persist.
HERS offers equity-focused programs and curricula, preparing campus leaders in all stages of their career to effectively and equitably address the most pressing challenges in higher education today, including:
Your financial support for HERS drives leadership equity across all institution types, enabling the higher education sector to better tackle these ongoing challenges, better support an increasingly diverse student body, and better prepare students to create a more equitable society.
Your philanthropic support expands access to HERS programs, creates more opportunities for the HERS Network to engage, and funds HERS research, all of which helps us close the gender gap in higher education senior leadership.
Join us in empowering a community of bold leaders who will transform higher education and by extension our society for a more equitable future.
“My donations to HERS pale in comparison to what I’ve received. In my last two jobs, I negotiated significant salary increases, and I would not have known how to do that had it not been for HERS. I am also working with my university to give financial assistance to staff members to attend HLI. There are many ways to say thank you to an organization that has given me so much."
Deanna Yameen, Ph.D., WHLI Alum 2017-2018

You and your family members may be able to double the impact of your donation through a matching gift program. Many organizations match donations made by their current and retired employees to nonprofits.
