Lindsey Templeton, Ph.D., joined HERS in December 2020, as a Senior Program Manager and was promoted to her current role, Associate Director of Programs and Research in the summer of 2022. As the Associate Director, Lindsey is responsible for recruiting and engaging with program facilitators and building a diverse pool of experts, practitioners, and scholars who inform HERS curricula and enhance the delivery of HERS programs. Lindsey works with the programs team on the development and delivery of all HERS programs and leads our assessment efforts to evaluate program effectiveness and measure HERS’s organizational impact. In her role, Lindsey works closely with the HERS senior leadership team on thought leadership and the development and execution of HERS’ research agenda.

Lindsey has over nine years of experience in higher education research and practice, with an emphasis on leadership and gender equity. Through research and practice, she aims to equip leaders with tools and strategies to both navigate and enhance work in the academy.  Lindsey’s recent scholarship focuses on equity in faculty workloads, hiring, and promotion and tenure processes. Prior to joining HERS, Lindsey coordinated a leadership program for faculty members through the University of Maryland ADVANCE Office and served as Director of Research and Training for a non-profit organization focused on student leadership. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Richmond and M.A. and Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Maryland. Her dissertation research focused on women’s decisions to pursue the academic deanship.

Lindsey is based in Pittsburgh, PA where she lives with her partner, their son, and their four-legged family members–an oversized Sheepadoodle and an ageless cat.
