Brooke Barnett joined Butler in 2019 as the Dean of the College of Communication and Professor of Communication, and began serving as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on April 1, 2021. She was officially named Provost on March 15, 2022.

Brooke earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication Studies at Georgetown College. She earned her Master of Arts in Journalism and doctorate in Mass Communication with a concentration in Law and Visual Communication at IU-Bloomington. Prior to her
arrival at Butler, and in addition to her career as a teacher and scholar spanning more than 25 years, at Elon University Brooke served for nine years on the President’s senior cabinet, as Associate Provost for Academic and Inclusive Excellence, and as chair of the faculty governing body.

She is a board member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and is a faculty member at the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) institutes for women in higher education leadership.
