Combat Burnout and the Unique Leadership Challenges Faced by Women Through Practical and Action-Oriented Solutions

Through five 90-minute synchronous sessions, followed by a sixth “check-in” session to review results of changes made, this online career coaching workshop will help participants identify and combat the challenges that women face in their personal and professional lives that are threatening their health, well-being, relationships, effectiveness as leaders, and overall life satisfaction. This program is designed to give you space and support to reflect on those challenges, find new ways of addressing them, and create a path forward that goes beyond typical “self-care tips” and builds deeper reserves of resilience.

Career Coaching and Workshop Learning Outcomes

  • Gain awareness of mindsets and patterns of behavior that drive leadership burnout and begin to shift those mindsets and behaviors
  • Learn practical strategies for setting boundaries, maintaining well-being practices, and gaining support at work and at home, in service of your work-life integration
  • Create a personalized leadership resilience action plan based on your learnings

Curriculum and Tentative Schedule
The workshop will consist of an introductory meeting, four 90-minute sessions, and a check-in meeting. All sessions will take place from 1:00 – 2:30 PM ET Participants will be paired with a peer accountability partner based on similar roles/responsibilities. Partners meet for a minimum of 30 minutes between each session for accountability and support.

Welcome Session

  • Get acquainted with your cohort and review workshop structure and expectations

Workshop Session One: 

  • Understand drivers of burnout for women leaders, and for yourself in particular
  • Introduce five keys to resilience: sense of purpose, supportive mindsets, clear boundaries, well-being practices, and external support
  • Begin the work of Keys one and two: Connecting to your purpose and identifying/addressing mindsets that cause burnout

Workshop Session Two: 

  • Small-group breakouts followed by a large group discussion to debrief Session one homework
  • Begin the work of Keys three and four: setting & maintaining boundaries and establishing consistent well-being practices
  • Practice communicating your boundaries to others

Workshop Session Three: 

  • Small-group breakouts followed by a large group discussion to debrief Session two homework
  • Begin the work of Key five: gaining support at work and at home
  • Plan for and practice communicating your support needs

Workshop Session Four: 

  • Small-group breakouts followed by a large group discussion to debrief session three homework
  • Create an action plan based on the five keys
  • Large group discussion and opportunity for peer & coach feedback (volunteers will be asked to share their action plan for feedback and additional group guidance)
  • Close workshop with an appreciative reflection on learning and commitment to self

Our Facilitator

Christy Mihina, GPCC

Christy Mihina is a leadership coach and consultant with more than 15 years of experience in leadership development and organizational effectiveness. Throughout her career she has supported Fortune 100 executives and emerging leaders at all levels, sharing her expertise in change leadership, team dynamics, personal effectiveness, and organizational culture.

As a coach, Christy’s specialty is supporting high-achieving women to live and lead in a way that supports their success, satisfaction, and well-being. Her clients describe her as insightful, inspiring, and “lit up” with positive energy.

Christy holds a master’s degree in Organizational & Leadership Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a certified coach through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.
