The primary learning objective of this program is to help you develop an intentional and opportunistic career path that builds upon your strengths and aligns with your core values.

Curriculum
Across six virtual sessions, through peer-to-peer learning with other participants and one-on-one executive coaching, you’ll define your desired career path and discover your personal narrative and transferable skills that will lend towards winning (and fulfilling) career moves. Along the way, you will gain lifetime career-building habits around self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and critical interpersonal communication strategies.

Journey 1 (October 8): Solidify your Values Journey
Identify your core values and outline your career map.

Journey 2 (October 15): Discover and Articulate Your Strategic Brand and Narrative
Align your core values with a new leadership narrative for your CVs and bios.

Journey 3 (October 22): Interpersonal Communication Strategies I
Role-play interviews and negotiations to develop a more confident inner voice.

Journey 4 (October 29): Interpersonal Communication Strategies II
Assess and create a strategy for improving your online presence.

Journey 5 (November 5): Emotional Intelligence   
Develop exercises to advance your social and emotional intelligence.

Journey 6 (November 12): Explore Career Options and Pathways
Explore various career roadmaps with senior higher education leaders and update your career map based on your work in previous sessions.

Opening and closing sessions are 120 minutes each, while sessions 2-5 are each 60 minutes with 15 minutes of asynchronous prep. Most sessions will begin at 3 pm EST and end by (or before) 5 pm EST.


Facilitators
Lead facilitator Nancy Martin of Archer~Martin Associates, an executive coaching and transition management firm, joins HERS staff and other panelists to provide a practical, research-based approach to career development.

Nancy Martin
Co-founder of Archer~Martin Associates, Nancy is a high-performance executive coach, adding to a career as a search consultant, innovative career counselor, and best-selling author. She and her colleagues are working to support the next generation of women leaders in higher education administration.


Who Is the Seminar For?
The program is designed for women leaders in higher education who are focused on adding clarity and intentionality to their mid-to-senior career growth. The earlier you start your intentional career journey, the more you’ll benefit. However, all women, regardless of their career stage, should attend if they harbor aspirations for senior leadership, even if they do not yet know what role their aiming for or the next step to take in getting there.
